When Should I See A Dentist?

How often you should visit the dentist will depend on your overall oral health. However, it is recommended that patients visit the dentist at least twice a year for a routine dental check-up. During your bi-annual visits, Dr. Brent Blaylock will perform a comprehensive exam on your teeth. A comprehensive exam includes:

  • Digital dental x-rays
  • Screening for cavities using Laser Cavity Detection
  • TMJ evaluation
  • Occlusal analysis to examine the position of the bite
  • Smile analysis
  • Periodontal screening
  • Oral cancer screening
  • Professional dental screening

Visiting the dentist does not guarantee great oral health; however, regular visits can help you maintain a healthy smile as well as get you a step closer to excellent oral health. Patients will also need to practice a healthy oral hygiene routine at home to improve their oral health.

Oral Health

When you neglect your oral health, it may lead to the development of complex health and dental problems. Dental issues like gum disease have been linked to heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and respiratory issues. Practicing preventive dental care can benefit you in the long run. Getting a routine dental check-up every six months allows your dentist to catch issues like gum disease early and provide the appropriate treatment before it leads complex dental issues. Dr. Blaylock will work with you to find the right treatment for your teeth and gums. Finding the right solution for your dental concerns in the early stages can save you time and money in the long run.
